In light of recent developments with COVID-19 virus, we have decided to offer alternative access to resources during the next two weeks.

The Center for Student Involvement is working diligently to ensure that each of you stays updated as campus directives may change. Please take a moment to review the information below to stay informed.

  1. In alignment with campus guidance, all registered student organizations (RSOs) reservations with planned attendance of 50 people or more will be canceled for the entirety of spring quarter. For events with less than 50 attendees, we suggest following the  Center for Disease Control advice of “adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual. Consider hosting events using digital resources (e.g. Google Hangout, Skype, Zoom, etc.).

  2. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) also provided guidance for events of any size, including those with planned attendance of less than 50. They advise that “events should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.” With this guidance, we recommend moving all events and meetings virtual, whenever possible.

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) has developed a list of recommendations that aim to keep you, your loved ones and the campus community safe.

The Importance of Social Distancing

As community members, your actions affect those in the larger UC Davis community. It is our recommendation that you and your organizations take the appropriate precautions to engage in social distancing best practices - avoiding crowds and large gatherings and maintaining at least a six-foot distance between yourself and others whenever possible. The intent is to help mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19 for campus and the broader UC Davis Community.

Domestic and International Travel

  • On March 19, the U.S. State Department announced a Global Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel. The Department of State “advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.

  • Per UC guidance, anyone returning from a CDC Level 3 country must self-isolate for 14 days before returning to work or campus.

  • Faculty, staff, and students are cautioned to reconsider travel and should consider a variety of factors including travel restrictions, university policies, registration and approvals for high risk locations, and their own health risks before making plans for personal domestic travel, particularly by air.

Social Events/Large Events

  • Per recommendations by the CDC, we advise the sorority and fraternity life community to cancel all social events for at least eight weeks.

  • On-Campus Events with planned attendance of 50+ must be canceled or postponed in accordance with campus mandate

  • It is recommended that off-campus events follow these same guidelines
